![]() ![]() ![]() What if I didn t let what others thought of me change the way I act and behave. What if I pushed myself to do the things I truly wanted to do. What if? What if you tried out for that sports team you were going to give a miss because you thought it would be too embarrassing? What if you spent more time studying with your teacher, even if your mates think it s a waste of time? What if you learnt a new instrument in the music program, even though it might mean dedicating a few lunchtimes a week to practicing? Those things that are holding you back from achieving your dreams, what if they didn t matter? The thing is, you don t want to be asking yourself the same question after 5 years of education, wondering What if I tried a little harder. Now I could stand up here and talk about all the ways that you can try your hardest, and give things a go. Yes, I know what you re thinking we ve heard this all before, it can seem like quite a generic message to tell you all, but the only reason you ve heard it so many times is because it s so important, and can change the way you perceive your high school career, and even your future plans and goals. However, overall, I hope this year will be the year that you give it your all, try your hardest to succeed, and explore all the new opportunities that will ultimately face you. The speech Abbey gave had some important messages for our students and so I have included what she said below: 2019 is going to be a big year for all of you, a year of growth and maturing, one of forming new relationships and connections, a time of hard work and achievement. ![]() The assembly showcased the experiences of our World Challenge expedition students, our student leaders words of wisdom and Abbey Mckennall, a 2018 graduate gave an address. The beginning of the school year saw the Year 8 to 12 students come together in a whole school assembly. ![]() #DAYMAP MACGREGOR FREE#1 Aberfoyle Park High School Taylors Road East Aberfoyle Park 5159 Phone: Website: Newsletter Issue 1, February 2019 Issue 1, Februar19Issue 9 WELCOME TO 2019 CALENDAR DATES TWednesday 6/2 6:30pm - Year 8 Acquaintance Night Thursday 7/2 6:30pm - Year 10 Work Experience Parent Evening Tuesday 12/2 7:30pm - Governing Council AGM Wednesday 13/2 School Photos Catch Up Day 6:30pm - Year 11 & 12 Monday to Thursday 25/2 to 28/2 Acquaintance Night Year 10 - Outdoor Education Aquatic Camp Wednesday 6/3 Whole School Sports Day Friday 8/3 Student Free Day Monday 11/3 Public Holiday Tuesday 12/3 5.30pm-6.30pm - Finance Meeting Tuesday 19/3 Open Night Wednesday & Thursday Wednesday & Thursday 20/3 & 21/3 3/4 & 4/4 Stage 1 Drama Group Presentation Stage 2 Drama Group Presentation Tuesday 9/4 3:00pm-7:30pm - Parent/Teacher Interviews Wednesday & Thursday 10/4 & 11/4 Year 9 Drama Group Presentation Friday 12/4 Term 1 concludes, 2:15pm dismissal time Welcome to the first of the 2019 school newsletters informing you about the learning opportunities and achievements of our students. ![]()
